Digital Synthesis

Digital Synthesis is a once a week, 5 class course that aims to teach students how to use computers to create sounds. There are no experience requirements, and all necessary software is free in order to ensure students of all skill levels are able to participate. Students are expected to bring their own laptop and headphones or earbuds (preferably wired). Each class lasts about 3 hours, with time provided afterwards for students to explore the showroom.

In this course we will use a virtual synthesizer called Vital which mirrors the capabilities of industry standard VSTs while remaining free. Additionally, the DAW we will use is Waveform, although if students are comfortable navigating other DAWs like Ableton or FL Studio they are free to use them.
